The New Year named Vikruti is starting on March 16, 2010 at 2:34 hours IST.
It has Dhanur lagna with Rahu in lagna, Guru in kumbha, Moon, Mercury, sun and venus in Meena, Ketu in mithuna, Mars in Karkataka and vakri(retrograde) sani in kanya.
With seventh lord Buddha in neecha and neecha kuja in eighth and Rahu in lagna it depicts a tough year for India. But both Budha and kuja being in neecha bhanga raja yoga and lagna lord guru in vikrama sthana the problems may not be crippling even if they are serious. In sukha sthana exalted venus and sun and buddha forming bhagya rajya adhipati yoga the rulers may just survive and continue in position somehow or other. Sani in tenth makes for struggle to survive. But there will be plenty of problems – break up of the ruling alliance, purchase of members for ruling, death of an important ruling person, natural calamities and terrorist attacks and even border skirmishes of serious nature are likely to occur.

In dasamsa lagna lord in vyaya sthana and vyaya lord in lagna and seventh having neecha moon and karma lord sani being with Rahu not only add fuel to the fire but also indicates serious involvement of foreign powers. In the Republic chart the period will be Rahu Moon Rahu with Rahu being in the satru sthana, moon and rahu being in dvirdwadasa indicating serious problem.

Till 2010-03-25: The period will be wining in many sectors and will be prosperous. Education Transportation and similar infrastructure will be given importance and will gain.

2010-03-25 – 2010-05-30 : This will be slightly tough period with struggle for the rulers to keep their promises, which may land them in serious problems.

2010-05-30 – 2010-07-29: This will be real setback in negotiations with partners and opponents as well both internally and externally. Internationally the image of the country may get spoiled.

2010-07-29 – 2010-08-22: There will be calamities both man made and natural and serious epidemics and human suffering due to terrorist attacks is possible.

2010-08-22 – 2010-10-31:This is the best period of the year with prosperity and gains in all sectors especially with the financial markets.

2010-10-31 – 2010-11-21:This is a testing period for the ruling party to keep its alliance members together and govern.

2010-11-21 – 2010-12-26:There may be serious concern of health for an important ruling party functionary. There is likelihood of natural calamities and accidents related with water.

2010-12-26 – 2011-01-20: This is quite bad period with ruling alliance breaking apart and a leading functionary of the ruling alliance being removed by natural reasons or by scandals. There is possibility of terrorist attacks and accidents and human and property loss occurring. It is almost a war like situation and border violations may be involved.

2011-01-20 – 2011-03-24:The bad period continues with lots of problems in ruling alliances and government functioning besides all problems brought by the enemies.
